Our award-winning model enables rural smallholder farmers boost productivity, restore ecosystems and adapt to climate change while improving household incomes. Our model increases net income by $150 – $300 per farmer.

Our Model
Credorsave’s innovative microfinance model leverages a pay-as-you-go harvest that lowers upfront costs and financial barriers for smallholder farmers and households seeking clean energy and agricultural solutions.
Farmers repay the cost of their financing only after they harvest. Farmer groups guarantee each other’s credit, therefore, removing the need for collateral. This models makes climate finance available enough to the vast majority of rural households-especially women- who do not have assets to leverage as collateral.
This trust based model coupled with agronomy training not only delivers a 95% repayment on credit but most importantly, create community cohesion and peer support among the farmers.
The Challenge
Smallholder farmers in Zambia face a harsh reality: traditional lenders see them as too risky, while microfinance options often fall short of their real needs. Without affordable, flexible financing for essential inputs like quality seeds, fertilizers and irrigation, they remain trapped in low productivity and vulnerability to climate shocks. This financing gap— estimated to be more than $100B annually—stalls rural economic growth and locks farmers out of opportunity.
